2012 marks the bicentenary of the birth of Charles Dickens, arguably our most famous writer. Dickens moved to the area in 1817, aged 5 and lived here until 1822, when the family moved to London. Despite this move, Dickens retained great affection for the area, which he included in a number of his works including The Mystery of Edwin Drood and Great Expectations.
