The Dolphin Sailing Barge Museum in Milton Creek was burnt to the ground last Sunday evening in what appears to be an arson attack. The Museum were one of the consortium of creek users who helped put the case for continued maritime use of Milton Creek to the Public Inquiry into the proposed new low level road bridge over the creek. The result of the Public Inquiry is expected in early December.
The museum was housed in an original Sailing Barge Sail Loft and all
the exibits perished also in the fire. They are all irreplaceable.
The management stated that they are still committed to the principal of celebration of
our Sailing Barge Heritage and are considering how this may now best be achieved.
