What do we mean by invasive non-native species? Put simply, it is any non-native plant or animal, whose ability to spread can have a detrimental effect on our environment, health, economy and the way we live.
In order to halt the spread (and prevent the establishment of) non-native species in the Medway Swale Estuary, we have put together some information pages on what to look out for, on both the land and water. These provide basic information on the various species, with links to the GB non-native species secretariat's website, where you can find much more detailed information, including photographs, as well as an on-line sightings report form. Please use the form to report sightings of any of the species highlighted on our website. The secretariat also provides a 'Species Alerts' page, where you can keep up to date with current threats at: https://secure.fera.defra.gov.uk/nonnativespecies/alerts/index.cfm Any sightings of species listed on the page, must be reported as soon as possible using their online form or by email at:email@example.com
