River Clean Up

MSEP organised a River Clean Up during low tide at four sites within the area on Saturday 10th May, as part of the Mission Medway clean up events. Clean ups were held at Riverside Country Park, Lower Upnor Beach, Halling Riverside and Baty’s Marsh .
More than 50 volunteers joined us for the event and these included the Halling Cub Scouts and some the Medway Youth Parliment's Environment Sub-Committee. We collected 50 refuse sacks of rubbish from the four sites and volunteers were rewarded for their help with bottles of local apple juice. The Kent Messenger visited the clean-up at Riverside Country Park to take some photos and it was featured in that week's newspaper.
Mission Medway was a collaboration between MSEP, Kent County Council, Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council, Maidstone Borough Council and the Medway Valley Countryside Partnership. Clean ups were organised the following weekend at other locations along the river.
